Teaching Writing – 5/27 6:30p
Join us Wednesday May 27th from 6.30 – 7.30 p.m. for our final Speaker Series event of the school year. Mr. Eric Manchester, Santiago Hills APAAS teacher will be speaking on the topic of
“Writing instruction from a teacher’s and parent’s perspective”.
Mr. Manchester has been teaching the 4th grade APAAS class at Santiago Hills for the past twelve years. He earned his B.A. in English from Stanford University with an emphasis in Creative Writing and earned his teaching credential and Masters in Education from U.C. Irvine. He cares deeply about his students and makes learning exciting and fun. He teaches his students to “work hard and be kind”, which is his class motto. He will talk about writing instruction, his own life trajectory and about his perspective on what constitutes “success”. He has started an after school writing program open to all students and will be taking a leave of absence to work on a novel for children. He is married to Mrs.Heather Manchester, a 6th grade APAAS teacher at Santiago Hills, and has two boys who attend IUSD schools.
