February PTA Newsletter
This is an online copy of the newsletter that was emailed to the PTA membership on February 12th, 2016.
Dear Santiago Hills Families,
We are onto the second half of the school year already!!! So far in the year, several successful PTA programs have been wrapped up or are well underway- Spirit Wear, Online Directory for PTA members, Reflections, Red Ribbon Week, Meet the Masters, Speaker series, Step Up to Writing. Thank you for all your help, support and feedback on making these programs happen. Following is an update on some of our PTA Events:
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the PTA sponsored Reflections contest for 2015-2016. We had an awesome participation and we are very proud to say that our students did very well! Many thanks to Linda Li, our Reflections chair, and all the volunteers for running this event superbly! If you want to find out more on the CA PTA Reflections program, here is the link-
Are you ready for the theme for 2016-2017? It is, “What is Your Story?”
Any questions please contact reflections@santiagohillspta.
Our next Speaker series is this Thursday, Feb.18, 6.30 – 7.30 p.m. in our MPR. The speaker, Marie Williams, is currently a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions Supports) TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment) at IUSD.
Please come and learn more on what PBIS looks like in our schools and take some tools home on how to use many of the same practices at your home. (PBIS at SH- Ready, Respectful, and Responsible!)
We have been having a very good turn out at our Speaker Series meetings and we are glad you appreciate it. These series are open for both, parents and students. We want to thank Anu Raghavan, our Speaker Series committee chair, for all the time and effort she has put in these events! If any questions on Speaker Series, please contact her at: email@example.com
JOG A THON– (Save the date- March 18th)
Our Jog A Thon committee has already geared up and has dived right in! Co-chairs Kelly Carter and Kristen Lounsbury are doing an amazing job planning this event! And we need your help too. If any questions and if you can help please contact our Jog Chairs at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For our new Tiger families- What is Jog A Thon? – Jog A Thon is a fun filled day where all our students and the staff (and if the parents want to join in on the fun they are certainly welcome as well) run / walk laps. The money you raise is used for funding the PTA programs that are being supported at our school. This is our second of the only two major PTA Fundraisers we have at our school. And if we meet the annual goal for our Jog A Thon- drum roll please- our Principal, very kindly, steps up to meet any challenge that the students vote for!!!!
We always feel so proud and fortunate to see the enthusiasm, excitement and energy that our school community brings to this event as we come together as one big school family!
